A Trip to London Zoo

Yesterday - after months and months of wanting to go - I finally went to the zoo! Yaaaaaaay! As my Dad lives in Camden it seems silly to not have been more often. Am definitely thinking about getting a membership.

I know it's November and it's not the normal time of year to go to the zoo and it was chucking it down all day, but it was honestly a lot more fun that it probably would have been in the sweltering heat with tonnes and tonnes of people.

I felt like such a kid again, getting excited by all the animals and Christmas decorations. As soon as our tickets were bought, we headed straight for the penguins!

The butterfly enclosure was next which was very warm, but so cool with all the butterflies flying around overhead.

Although some of the enclosures were being 'done up' and I didn't get to see a few of the animals that I wanted to (Giraffes!) and we'd gotten up incredibly early, the day was still really really good. Was totally worth getting up at a silly time for. Plus, as I'm obsessed with how many steps I do each day, I think I broke my own personal record with over 17,000 steps!

Here are a few more photos of some of the animals we saw:

Tigers - love this sign, reminds me of Madagascar.

The reptile house, where a scene in Harry Potter 1 was filmed! It's fair to say I got super excited and kept a look out for the snake.

A selection from the 'Outback', 'Nighttime Creatures' and others. I was obsessed with those lights, they're stunning! Also, the reindeer was smaller than I'd imagined it would be. How would such a small animal pull Santa's sleigh?! Ha ha.

Meerkats! These are so adorable, skittering about and digging. Couldn't help but hear Bill Nighy in my head narrating their every move. The otters were nearby too, and equally adorable, but sadly I couldn't get any photos as they were all in their beds snuggling together.

Ants! What incredible little things. We watched them take all these little bits of leaves up and up and up in their enclosure. Must've felt like walking to Australia!

And then the Jellyfish - just loved the electric blue of them!

We popped back to see the penguins getting fed along with a talk on them. Apparently, you can add one of the rockhopper penguins on Facebook and if you were 'lucky' enough to get pooped on by a seagull, you could get a sticker with a neat little rhyme on. Too bad, I didn't get pooped on, ey?

We finally headed off to the shop - no purchases, success! - and the exit.

I would definitely recommend going to the zoo - or any other 'summer' activity - in the winter. It's a lot less hectic and cheaper too!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and enjoys the rest of their Sunday

A Rainy Sunday

As yesterday was such a massive fail at doing anything remotely productive, I got up early (ish) and placed everything on my bed that I needed to do. I made a to-do list (obviously, what would I do without them?) and got cracking.

Rainy days definitely help me to work more, as did my post yesterday about things to look forward to in the next year. But I've been feeling so under the weather lately. No matter what I do, I feel pants all the time. It got so bad today that I had to have another tea. You definitely know I don't feel well when I make a tea during the day!

I also went for a walk and realised this area isn't as bad as I keep making it out to be. I need to start enjoying where I am instead of moaning about it all the time. I need a more positive attitude.

It's fair to say that I didn't get all of my work done today, but I got a good chunk done which was my aim. I definitely need to get back into photography seeing as I'm majoring in it and have a huge project to complete. But, anyways, I'm feeling all excited about Christmas as I changed my air freshener over today to a Christmassy one! & have been planning the long weekend away to Paris in March which I am so so so excited about!

First Post

So, I've finally decided to start blogging properly as I have spent the majority of the day on tumblr and looking through Zoella's blogs when I really should have been doing more uni work. But, hey ho, I've been working too hard recently. Needed a day of, er, rest...

I'm a quarter of the way through my last year at uni (I think) and have so many things I want to write about. Seeing as I'm doing Creative Writing as part of my combined course it would be silly to not want to write all the time. But because this year is incredibly tough, my anxiety has returned which is getting me very down recently.

So I thought I'd write a list of things to look forward to in the coming months.

Here goes:

1) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Winter Wonderland in December, with Kerri-Ann and Yasmin.
2) Christmas!!!
3) Turning 21 in March and hopefully going to Paris for a long weekend.
4) Going to see Take That in June at the O2 - am so excited!!!!
5) Visiting Dubai for the first time in the summer.
6) Graduating (hopefully!)
7) Possibly some travelling - if I have the guts to do it?
8) And to start looking for a place of my own and a job.

A few of those sound slightly daunting, but they are definitely a motivation - which is well and truly needed at the moment.

Something I am still buzzing (not sure if this is the right word) from is the marriage of two of my friends on the 7th November - Valentina and Daniel. She only announced their engagement about a month ago and I was excited from the get-go. The day was definitely a beautiful one and I am so grateful to have been a part of their special day.
