St. Helier, Jersey

My God, it has been the busiest of weekends again!

I don't know how people are constantly keeping themselves busy, I'm so exhausted it's unbelievable.

Anyway, I promised posts on Jersey so I've decided to split them up sort of by day/location.

St. Helier was where we stayed, there will be a subsequent post on St. Brelade and then a standalone post for a restaurant review as it deserves a special mention.

For today though, St. Helier.

The flight from Gatwick is only 45-50 minutes. By the time the captain tells you to take your seatbelt off, half the flight is over. It was funny because Adeel got up to pee and as there was a queue he didn't actually get to go because the captain announced not long later that seatbelts were to be refastened!

It was a very windy, rainy day when we set off. Our flight was at around 9 in the morning so we landed near 10 and the airport is so tiny in Jersey and we only had hand luggage that we were literally out straightaway (except for the minor wait for the rental car).

Oh my God, just the drive to the hotel was amazing. Jersey is such a beautiful island!

However, we did have a few hours to kill before we could check in to the hotel so we left the car there and got a pointer towards the town centre.

Wandering through the town at a leisurely pace was great. We eyed up some beautiful properties advertised - dreaming only of course - before grabbing a bite to eat. Burger King was our one and only naughty choice and probably the worst of the food we had (not a single bad meal for the entire trip!)

We meandered back to the hotel by which time we could checkin and found ourselves in what seemed like an upgraded room. We originally booked the budget room (with a warning that you could hear the swimming pool pump). BUT, we were on the second floor, the room was massive and not a single noise could be heard from the pool. It was amazing.

We had a somewhat planned, somewhat improvised nap as we'd been up so early, before heading out for a lovely walk along the beach.

With clouds a-brewing and a roll of thunder in the distance, we quickly scarpered back to the hotel for dinner in the bar. I think Adeel had a burger and chips and I had scampi and chips.

The portions were massive, I definitely could not finish it all. After a half hour or so we decided to test out the pool facilities which was a nice way to end our first day in Jersey.

Climbing between those fresh white sheets after was equally as perfect.

More to come soon...

TopGolf, Watford

If every weekend to come is like that one just was, I will be a very very happy girl.

Adeel was over for the whole weekend and we'd thought about going to TopGolf for a while as he'd been a few times before.

I love crazy golf as well so it seemed like the perfect thing to do.

Although, we could have picked a warmer day!

It was beautifully sunny though, just absolutely freezing.

I actually started my day off with a quick run (the photo above was taken at the end). I run around this tiny little walkthrough area that is coincidentally a figure of 8 shape, so perfect for laps.

After that, we got ready and drove to Watford. Even getting there at around 12 it was pretty busy, although nothing compared to when we left at around half 3!

We started off with the crazy golf course outside - a sixteen-hole course full of many obstacles including a number of small lakes (they provide nets for you to fish your ball out with, how thoughtful!), not that we need worry about them on our own venture around the course as they were all pretty frozen...

Then we went inside for some food (I ordered calamari and he ordered a burger - they were pretty darn good too!) and whilst we were waiting our turn came for the driving range.

We each got twenty golf balls to hit as far as we could into any of the targets at varying distances.

It's fair to say I couldn't hit it very far but I had a higher score for the most part of successfully hitting the targets.

Adeel hit it very far with power I couldn't even dream of matching, but his aim kept going to the left. All the better for me! Although he still beat me by one point in the end...

He beat me by a great margin at crazy golf too.

Clearly I need to work on my golfing skills.

Sunday was spent watching movies in bed all day, warming up after our frozen day out.

Perfect.

Festivities

I can't believe it's Christmas tomorrow.

WHERE HAS THIS YEAR GONE?

I'm at home, hanging out with the family, a box of roses chocolates next to me and a cat on my lap.

It's been a chilled few days seeing family and friends and helping do odd bits around the house, but I wanted to share the day we went to Winter Wonderland as it's all festive and merry.

I met Adeel in central London reasonably early (okay, more like just before lunchtime, whoops) and we headed on in to Hyde Park.

He'd booked The Nutcracker on Ice so we wandered over to a tent lit up inside like you'd hope to see the night sky some time - little stars twinkling all over the ceiling.

We sat through an hour of a beautifully choreographed show with some absolutely amazing lifts and flips - ON ICE. There's no dialogue, but a smoke machine and fake snow. If that doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, I don't know what will.

Afterwards we wandered around, weaving through the stalls and rides, picking up a duck wrap or two and some churros along the way.

We didn't stay very long all in all. In fact we later headed over to Leicester Square to watch Rogue One!

But I thought I'd leave you with some Christmassy photos.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
